Gregory Anderson - Eating out in Hull

"For other special occasions you should consider the more expensive Turkish restaurant of Mimosa. Its delicious open kitchen makes waiting for your food a pleasant torment, a chance to savour the floating flavours of a Mediterranean mixed grill. My principle memory of the place, however, is its consistently charismatic service. I've taken two girlfriends in there, and the same charming waiter has told me the same fantastical story. ‘My one true love comes from Sydney,' he said to my Australian lass, ‘I hope to one day go back there one day. Such a beautiful place, wouldn't you agree?' And when I took in my girl from London he told me, ‘My one true love comes from Leyton, I hope to one day go back there one day. Such a beautiful place, wouldn't you agree?"

East Riding Vegans guide to - Mimosa Turkish Restaurant

"The Atmosphere / Summary

Open style contemporary restaurant serving excellent Turkish food. Staff are friendly and helpful and the food is very fresh and tasty. Note there is a very large barbecue where meat is cooked and a counter with meat on display. Both are very visible from the restaurant.

Detail

The food is terrific and reasonably priced so you are going to eat well at Mimosa. The best bet for a vegan is to select several of the starters as your food. Most of the starters are vegetarian and a significant proportion are vegan. Ask the very helpful staff and they will guide you. Typically 3-5 starter dishes is a very filling meal. Alternatively you can go for a vegetarian kebab without the cheese (you may get a funny look but it is a good humoured look!). There are one or two other main courses which it might be possible to serve as vegan options plus they have specials."
